Dr. G. Dhanunjaya Rao
He has pioneered the Deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's Disease and performed more than 100 DBS surgeries in India and USA.
Biography
Dr. Dhanunjaya Rao Ginjupally received his medical degree and then completed neurosurgery residency from the Gandhi Medical College (GMC) in Hyderabad, INDIA. Following residency, he received subspecialty fellowship training in Movement disorders and Functional Neurosurgery – Neuro Oncology in both adult and pediatric epilepsy surgery, as well as adult brain tumors, at the Kentucky Neurosciences Institute (KNI), University of kentucky, in lexington, Kentucky state, USA.
At the University of Kentucky, as a Principle investigator and Fellow in the Department of Neurosurgery and Brain Restoration Center (BRC), Dr. Ginjupally focused on the surgical treatment of Parkinson’s disease, Movements disorders, Refractory epilepsy, brain tumors, Obesity, stroke and psychosurgery for drug resistance obsessive compulsive disorders, refractory depression. He is particularly interested in improving provision of Deep brain stimulation, lesioning for movement disorders and also epilepsy surgery for all patients who are suffering from medically refractory epilepsy, in Telugu states and beyond. He is also interested in LASERS and awake operations for brain tumors, particularly those within or in proximity to eloquent regions of the brain (which control speech, movement, sensation, and cognitive processing), to achieve maximal tumor removal and preserve patient’s function after surgery. Dr. Dhanunjaya Rao Ginjupally is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the Movement Disorder Society(MDS), the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), the World Society of Stereotactic And Functional Neurosurgery(WSSFN), the American Epilepsy Society (AES) the Neurological Society of India(NSI) The Telangana State Neuroscientists Association(TSNSA).
